The American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine Announces Results of 2017 Certification Exam, Congratulates Dr. Muhammad Salim on Achievement of Diplomate Status

San Francisco, CA, July 13, 2017 – The American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) has recently completed its tenth annual exam cycle specializing in Venous & Lymphatic Medicine and utilizing the PearsonVue® testing centers in the United States and Canada.

With this class of diplomates, the ABVLM has now awarded diplomate status to 794 practitioners within the United States and Canada.

It is with great pride that we announce the addition of Norman physician Muhammad Salim, MD to this group of diplomates. His certification with the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine is a direct reflection of his knowledge in the field of vein care, and his continued commitment to the advancement of vein care. It is truly an accomplishment to become ABVLM certified.

To become an ABVLM diplomate, an applicant must complete the requisite training and experience qualifications, meet the continuing medical education requisites, and pass a stringent certification examination. Certification periods are ten years and maintenance is dependent on the ability of the diplomate to display competency in four areas of assessment: evidence of professional standing, evidence of commitment to lifelong-learning and periodic self-assessment, evidence of cognitive expertise, and evaluation of performance in practice.

Dr. Salim, is a highly experienced, board certified Interventional Cardiologist. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. He is a member of Norman Heart and Vascular Associates and practices at the Norman Regional HealthPlex Heart Hospital.

The American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (www.ABVLM.org) is an independent, non-profit organization founded in 2007 for the purpose of certifying physicians who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge in the field of venous and lymphatic medicine. The American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine was established to:

1. Improve the standards of medical practitioners and the quality of patient care related to the treatment of venous disorders and all aspects of venous disease;
2. Serve the public and the medical profession by establishing initial and continuing qualifications for certification and maintenance of certification as physician specialists in the practice of venous and lymphatic medicine;
3. Examine physician candidates for certification and maintenance of certification in the practice of venous and lymphatic medicine;
4. Establish educational standards for teaching and training programs in venous and lymphatic medicine;
5. Award certifications in venous and lymphatic medicine to candidates who meet the established requirements; and
6. Maintain a registry of individuals who hold certificates issued by the Board.
